Nowadays SEO is a hot topic for every blogger because SEO is a key factor to see your website getting its rank high. Indeed, there are many factors which play important role in SEO but the website loading time is not negligible.

According to Google, website loading time is important factor that is considered by its algorithms in ranking a web page.

In this post we will discuss how to improve website speed. Because no matter how good your content is, how many people follow you on social media, or how expert you are in following SEO tactics, your website will not get more visitors if it takes too much time to load? Here are some important points which will surely reduce site loading time or improve site speed.

#1. Move your website to better host

Fast and quick responsive web host is extremely important for speed of any website. You can see bunch of advertisements of hosting companies on social media posts and blogging forums. Most of the companies claim that they are better service provider but you need to choose the best after having a look on reviews about hosting companies.

There are many companies having happy customers. Bluehost and Hostgator is one of these successful companies which always take care of their customers BUT the rank of good hosting companies keep changing often times.

#2. Install only necessary plugins

Plugins look great on a website but when you put too many plugins, widgets, videos and images it results in increasing website load time which ultimately effect SEO. It also effects user experience, when it takes too long to load a page reader will switch to competitor’s website.

#3. Optimize image size

High quality images are very important for good looking website. Bloggers use at least one image with each post but sometimes it takes more than a single image. High definition or large size image results in slower website.

Image optimization superbly effect the speed of website.  You can find that what is optimal image for your website? It depends on the theme you are using.

What is the optimal image size?

The optimal size of image for your website can be checked by using Google Chrome web browser. Open your website in this browser and right click on picture and choose option ‘inspect’ from list. You will see the size of picture your site actually uses. It may be little bit less than the size you uploaded.  So it’s extremely important to upload exact size shown here in code inspection.

How to optimize image size?

Most of the bloggers use photo editing softwares like Adobe Photoshop but it’s not enough to optimize. We have many online tools which help to minimize size of image. For example, upload your image to picmonkey in order to resize up to possible minimized size. Then upload the resized image to optimizilla and compress image size and then upload resized and compressed image to your website.

#4. Enable compression

Upload compressed CSS, JavaScript and Html files to website, by doing this the size of files will minimized to notable size as compare to original. It really helps in increasing website load time. Gzip is a good tool to compress files.

For images it is recommended to use Photoshop and the tolls discussed above in “Optimize image size”.

#5. Minimize site code

If you are programmer or code expert, it will be easy for you to minimize number of lines in CSS, JavaScript and HTML. While loading a website each line of code is executing so it is a good practice to remove unused code segments, code comments and unnecessary formatting. This will tremendously effect website load time.

If you are not a programmer consult with an expert before uploading website theme or a page. Alternate solution is to purchase optimized theme for website.

#6. Reduce redirects

While loading a website page directs to another page results more wait for a reader. This is not a user friendly.

Its good practice make available required data in front of reader or make easy available. Reader don’t want to follow multiple links to find single topic.

#7. Analyze website speed

With the passage of time content keeps uploading on a server. The best practice is to keep tracking the speed of your website because some time amount of content increases and speed decreases. So the best suggested tool is Google Page Speed Insight it analyzes and gives result both for desktop and mobile.
